Team Policies
Most team rules and policies do not carry written consequences. Our expectations of every player are very clear. The reason we follow the rules on this team is because we respect each other and we respect the program. It is that simple. If a player breaks a rule we deal with it on an individual basis. Each situation is handled in its own way. I (player’s name-print)____________________________________________and (parent’s name print)_____________________________________________agree to the following team rules, in order to maintain my status as a member of the Schurr Soccer Men’s Team.
A. Training Sessions - Games
Study Hall – Times TBA on a season to season basis
Attendance:
Miss one: sit out a half (still dress and warm up with team)
Miss two: sit out the entire game (still dress and warm up with team)
Miss three and on: sit out entire game per absent (still dress-warm up with team)
Late/Tardy: 1st offense: pick up gear. 2nd offense: sets up practice. 3rd and on: game participation will be affected
Gear:
Shirt, shorts, socks, cleats, shin guards, running shoes
Extra clothes, sweater/jacket, towel, snack & drink
Weather:
We train and play if it rains.
Injury:
You still show up to practices and games.
Rehab, see trainer
Illness:
You still show up to practices and games.
Upon doctor note/recommendation player can stay at home. I may not be a doctor, but neither are you. If you are sick/ill and you decide to miss practice, you will be only allowed to train and play when you are clear by one.
Performance:
Non-negotiable: Don’t let your teammates down! Always perform at your best. You control your body language, work ethic, and attitude.
No fights, no aggression red cards (vs tactical)
Facilities – Officials – Fans – Opponents - Coaches
Respect every location
Do not engage in confrontation with officials, coaches, opponents or fans.
Be the bigger person, control your actions, and do what’s best for the team
B. Off the Field: (School – Campus – Classroom)
Attendance:
Miss school on game day or practice (but show up to participate) you do not play or practice.
Unless you have a written excusable excuse (subjective)
Facilities:
Respect and take care of all the facilities you find yourself on.
Performance:
A’s and B’s, sit in front of classroom, ask questions, and study.
On-site suspensions, truancies, tardiness, fights are not acceptable!
Disruptive in Class: You are to conduct yourself in a well-behaved manner that will not attract negative attention to yourself and or the Schurr Boys Soccer Team.
If coach receives a bad report from any member of the school’s Faculty and or Staff, the player will be assigned a Clean Up Week. (Failure to comply = suspension)
If this negative behavior continues, play time will be affected or, depending on severity of the situation, grounds of removal from the team.
C. Dress, Language and Behavior On and Off the Field
You are to conduct yourself in a well-behaved manner that will not attract negative attention to yourself and or the Schurr soccer team.
No bad words (English – Spanish)
No attempts to substitute bad language
No saggy pants and not visible underwear
No negative – offensive – insulting body language
D. Stealing
Members who are caught stealing (on and/or off the field) will be removed from the soccer program.
Do not steal as a “Joke” or “Prank”. Do not take ANYTHING that does not belong to you!
E. Substance – Illegal Use
Any member caught under the influence of Drugs, Alcohol, or Tobacco products will be removed from the team! (This is the Warning)
F. Hazing – Bullying – Cyber Bullying
The program holds a zero-tolerance policy for hazing and (cyber) bullying
We are all different, unique, and with our own unique special qualities.
We all need to be shown respect, dignity, and integrity.
See Schurr Soccer Team Expectations for full details
G. Outside Team Play
Once the season begins, NO ONE is ALLOWED to play on an OUTSIDE team.
If you are seen, you will be REMOVED from the soccer team immediately.
H. Social Media
See SHS Men’s Soccer Social Media Policy
I. Grades & GPA
Grades impact your playing time
“F” = do not pay game
“D”= lose starting privilege (first 30 minutes of the match)
Two “D’s” = one “F”
GPA
2.0 – 2.49: (D): no start. (F): no play. Sit in front row in all classes
2.50 – 2.99: (D) rule is overlooked. Multiple (D’s) & (F) rule apply. Sit in front row in all classes
3.0 – 3.49: (D & Multiple D) Rule overlooked. “F” Rule overlooked for one “F” if its 5% away from a “D”. Sit in front row in poor performance classes
3.5 – 4.0: All Grade rules overlooked. Sit in front row in poor performance classes
Honor and AP classes
Note: this is a program rule not a MUSD or SHS rule that affects your real GPA
Grades in these classes will count as UP a grade (F to D, D to C) only
For this rule to apply you must show progression (not decrease – or stay the same). The moment grade levels or decreases this rule does not apply.
